Q&A
What should I know before philtrum filler?
What does philtrum filler do?
It adds dimension to a long-looking philtrum so it appears shorter, and restores rolled-in lips to refine the center of the face. It also considers the C-curve of your profile to create a more youthful look.
Do I need lip filler with it?
If your philtrum still looks long after lip filler, or your lips roll inward, doing both is often more effective. We recommend it only when needed after assessing your facial proportions.
How is it performed?
The philtrum is designed in inner and outer parts, then small amounts are injected after numbing. Results change with differences as small as 1 mm, so injection is precise.
What about swelling and recovery?
Swelling and slight bruising may last a few days and usually settle within a week. Naturalness when smiling or talking is checked after swelling subsides.
What are the aftercare instructions?
Do not press or massage the area, and avoid alcohol, saunas and strenuous exercise for a few days. It is also best to cut down on hot or spicy food for a while.
How long does philtrum filler last?
The philtrum moves when you talk and smile, so results are relatively short, usually several months, depending on product, amount and individual factors.
Who should not have philtrum filler?
If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, have inflammation or wounds in the treatment area, or have had a hypersensitivity reaction to the same ingredient, treatment should be postponed or another option considered. Please tell us about your medication and medical history during consultation.
Will it look unnatural?
The philtrum has to be seen in proportion to the nose, lips and chin, so we design it by balancing everything from the nose tip to the chin. Small amounts keep your expression lines natural when smiling or talking.
The number of sessions, duration of results and recovery time vary depending on individual skin condition. Details will be explained after consultation.
